Rine Karr

Rine Karr is an Anime Writer at Girls in Capes. She’s an avid consumer of all things fiction, including anime, manga, novels, video games, and films. She first discovered anime and manga by watching the English dub of Sailor Moon.

Aspiring novelist and explorer by moonlight, former academic and museum professional by daylight — Rine relishes telling and consuming stories. She studied anthropology, archaeology, and religious studies as an undergrad and international human rights, Buddhist studies, and Buddhist art in graduate school. She especially loves good food and traveling, and she’s lived in numerous places throughout the US, as well as Hong Kong and London.

Rine is currently in the midst of drafting a novel. She’s written two unpublished dissertations—one on historic preservation and one on Buddhist art history — yet, Rine especially enjoys dabbling in various creative pursuits and writing for an audience beyond academia on her blog and around the Internet. She’s also the Chief Copyeditor at Women Write About Comics.
