“Since Christmas songs are playing so early in November, I thought I’d follow the airwaves lead by watching a Christmas film this past weekend. So I finally got around to watching Tokyo Godfathers. Directed by the late Satoshi Kon, the film tells the story of three homeless people finding an abandoned baby. Throughout the film, the trio try to find the baby’s parents and they encounter many “coincidences” along the way. With colorful characters, lovely visuals, and a heartwarming story, Tokyo Godfathers is definitely worth a watch.”

“Since the movie comes out soon, I’m rereading Catching Fire. It’s my favorite of the trilogy and the one that without fail makes me sob throughout most of the book. Though there are a number of issues with the books – particularly the unnecessary love triangle, I mean, get it together folks, clearly Peeta is perfect and Katniss just needs to accept his love because no one else can understand what she’s been through – I really love CF and the intensity of the story. The escalation of the rebellion and the death and destruction that’s represented tries to put forth and make the audience think about the price of war and what strength it takes to make a stand.”

“I was very young when the Hannibal movies first came out, so I wasn’t allowed to watch them. I’m in my early 20s now and I’ve yet to see any of the films, but I had no choice but to get acquainted with the NBC series Hannibal when the complete first season was given to me as a birthday present. And now I am very glad I did. Based on the characters from the original films and novels, Hannibal is a thoroughly disturbing, intensely psychological, utterly brilliant crime series with stellar performances and amazing writing. Each episode presents a new horrifying crime, but the real focus of the series is how each crime affects the broken psyche of Will Graham, a talented criminal profiler, who is a patient of the infamous Dr. Hannibal Lecter. The crimes get darker and Will’s mind sinks further, with Hannibal pulling the strings behind it all. This series is brilliant and I strongly recommend it for anyone with the stomach for it.”
