July 2016 will be The Local Issue at Girls in Capes, and we are currently open to pitches from guest writers. We currently do not have a budget for guest writers, but strongly encourage including links in your articles.
For July’s Local Issue, we seek writers on the following topics:
- [Books] Interviews: Authors in your metro area
- [Books] List-style articles of SF/F novels set in or inspired by a specific geographic area
- [TV & Film] Film Reviews: Ghostbusters, Star Trek Beyond
- [Comics & Graphic Novels] Interviews: Comic shop owners (preference for women, people of color who own comic stores), Comic creators or geeky artists (preference for women, people of color, LGBT creators)
- [Subculture] Explorations of the geek scene in your metro area
- [Subculture] Convention coverage: Anime Expo, San Diego Comic Con (if other convention, include in your pitch)
Other pitches on topics of a timely nature or relevant to the theme will also be considered.
Guest posts are always clearly marked and included in the Guest Writers tag on the site. We ask that guest writers include a 2-3 sentence bio for the end of the piece. We also strongly encourage guest writers to include Twitter handles and/or links to personal pages and portfolios.
