The Girls in Capes Book Club is a monthly book club featuring young adult, adult, and crossover titles highlighting protagonists and authors of diverse backgrounds. Every month, we read one book and discuss it with our Teammates.
Our book club discussions focus on what we liked and didn’t like about each book, whether or not our friends should read it, and similar books we also liked.
If you live in the Philadelphia area, you can participate in our book club meetup every month at Main Point Books in Wayne, Pennsylvania. Keep up with us on Facebook Events to find out when our next meetup will take place!

The Light Between Worlds by Laura Weymouth
In this standalone young adult fantasy, Laura Weymouth revisits and revises the story of the two sisters who traveled to Narnia in the years after their return from the magical land. While Weymouth’s sisters have different names and visited a different land, the author’s dissatisfaction with C.S. Lewis’s endings for both girls rings clear.

All Systems Red by Martha Wells, February 20
In the shortest month of the year, we explore a novella—this time, Martha Wells’ award-winning besteseller All Systems Red. It’s here we meet reader-favorite Murderbot, a sentient android with zero interest in anyone finding out exactly how sentient it is… because if Murderbot gets deactivated, it’s never going to find out how its favorite soap ends.

But as her wedding to the prince approaches, she starts to question whether her “savior” is really what he appears to be.
